Tucked away at the northernmost post of France and directly on Belgian border the is the quiet coastal town of Bray-Dunes, one of the nicest places to visit in northern France, thanks to its location behind the Dune Marchand nature reserve, a blissful nature reserve with beautiful sand dunes, and some interesting wildlife to be found too! The beach is nice a quiet too, and is one of the best French beaches near Calais so it’s an easy trip to make once you’ve left the port at Dover! Just over the border in De Panne is Plopsaland, one of the best theme parks in Belgium, and it makes the perfect day out with the children. Of course, for the city-folks among us, Lille is reachable within one hour thanks to the prime location of Bray-Dunes.
There’s several places offering accommodation in Bray-Dunes as it’s such a popular town, but our favourite has to be Holiday Suites La Brise des Dunes, because of their pet-friendly accommodation – so you don’t have to leave the dogs at home and they can also enjoy themselves running along the endless beaches!
Home to the Baie d’Authie, a bay with amazing views over the sea, populated with seals, and of course one of the most beautiful places in northern France, Fort-Mahon-Plage is located in the idyllic region of Normandy, famous for being the main region in France when it comes to exporting seafood such as mussels and oysters, so visitors to the area can be sure to find some of the freshest and tastiest produce in their dishes when visiting the plentiful local restaurants. Nearby the town is the famous Belle-Dune Aquaclub, a water park filled with slides, fountains and saunas; what better place to take the kids as a treat!
