May Half-term in the Belgian Ardennes

Ardennes, Belgium

The Belgian Ardennes is typically characterised by stunning valleys, ancient forests and meandering streams so Springtime here is not to be missed; perfect for a May half-term holiday. The blooming nature makes for great outdoor activities for you and the kids such as canoeing, cycling, swimming at the beach and hiking.  At Landal Village l’Eau d’Heure all of these outdoor activities are available to you and your family in addition to the homely Ardennes holiday cottages you can rent, and the great facilities the park itself has to offer. The kids can play with life-size LEGO and enjoy themselves on both the indoor and outdoor playgrounds, all whilst you take a moment to relax at the wellness centre. On top of all of this, the Belgian holiday park is extremely easy to get to as well! Brussels South Charleroi Airport is just an hour’s flight away from the major UK airports and Landal Village l’Eau d’Heure is a 40-minute drive from the airport. So grab your kids, rent a car and take a long weekend visit to the Ardennes – the best choice for last minute May half-term holidays!

May Half-term on the Dutch Coast

Friesland, the Netherlands

It’s so great to finally be able to enjoy spending time outdoors now that the weather is much warmer and what better way to take advantage of it than by spending your holiday on the water, and since the Netherlands is a country dominated by water, our next top May half-term holiday destination is Friesland; a unique province in the Netherlands! It’s set apart by its language, landscape and culture, and the surrounding areas of the RCN Holidaypark De Potten allow you to explore it all in great detail. The park itself is absolutely perfect if your kids are big water sports fans. With a sailing school, a boat rental service and a pirate ship just for the kid’s entertainment, they can be made to feel like the captain in charge of this family holiday.  When it comes to the Netherlands, in general, exploring the canals by a small private boat is an absolute must when it comes to Friesland holidays; there is nothing like seeing parts of the country from the water. And as it’s your own private boat you can bring music and snacks and just enjoy yourselves. Or better yet once you’ve gone exploring the waters you can grab lunch at the restaurant… on the water.  If you’d rather stay more on the mainland but still near the water and all its activities, we recommend you stay at Hogenboom Holidaypark Emslandermeer. Both Holiday parks are situated about 45 minutes from Groningen Airport, a fairly decent amount of travel time in exchange for an unforgettable May half-term break for the whole family!
