Discovering the Dutch coast

Have you ever been to the Netherlands and have you ever discovered its beautiful coastline? While travelling along the Dutch coast, you may sometimes be under the impression that you are actually in a movie or a painting. The windmills, colourful fields of flowers and countless people on their bicycles are not an romanticised illusion of the Netherlands, but reality. It is a beautiful region and the Dutch coast is especially suitable for a summer holiday with children as the beaches are wide, clean and safe. In addition, along the coast you can find numerous towns and cities that invite you to learn more about the Dutch history and culture.

With spring approaching quickly, it is now the time to think about your upcoming summer holiday. If you are still uncertain where you would like to go, we are here to give you inspiration and to provide you with valuable travel advice. In this article we want to introduce you to the Dutch coast as a holiday destination and we are introducing you to the most popular regions and hot-spots.

Holiday parks in Zeeland

The province of Zeeland (Sealand) is one of the most popular provinces amongst Dutch and international tourists. The region is known for its rich history, its welcoming towns and their outstanding seafood. In no other region of the Netherlands you will be able to better witness the important role that water plays in the Netherlands. Visit, for example, towns such as Renesse, Bruinisse and Domburg and learn more about the role the water has played and still plays economically, historically as well as culturally. You will find that it has shaped not only the landscape, but also its people and ultimately their culture. After an active day, you should visit one of the countless fish restaurants and enjoy  regional seafood specialities of Zeeland, such as mussels, herring and oysters.

Enjoying the beach in Zuid-Holland

Zuid-Holland (South Holland) is the Dutch province which houses most of the big cities in the Netherlands, amongst them The Hague and Rotterdam. At the same time, the province is known for its varied nature and landscape. It will come as no surprise to you that also during their holidays the Dutch people love to bike. That means that bike paths are incredibly well built and cycle path networks are thoroughly developed. During your vacation in Zuid-Holland you should therefore explore nature and the coastline by bicycle. Most of the Dutch flowers originate from this province and it will be an unforgettable experience for you and your children alike to cycle along the colourful fields of different flowers.

Holiday rentals at the coast in Noord-Holland

Noord-Holland (North Holland) is your perfect travel destination, if you would like to take a day trip to Amsterdam. Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, invites you to take a boat trip through its endless channels and visit various museums as well as historical sights. It is easily reached by public transportation and houses activities for tourists of all age groups. Amsterdam is also where the international airport Schiphol is located.

The province Noord-Holland also houses the Dutch island Texel. This small island is likewise a perfect destination, if you like to cycle and explore nature. If the weather is good you should bike to the lighthouse or visit charming villages and have a coffee in the sun. The island is only 21 km long and can therefore easily be discovered during a short vacation. Additionally, the holiday parks in Texel are real family holiday parks. These parks provide various exciting facilities for kids and young families, such as bike rentals, swimming pools, bowling alleys and a lot more.
